After Independence, Rajasthan to Get 263 Permanent Food Safety Officers for the First Time
State Government completes two years • Chief Minister directs issuance of appointment letters
Jaipur: On the completion of two years of the state government, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma gave a major gift to the youth on Monday. He directed the issuance of appointment orders for 263 selected Food Safety Officers (FSOs), whose recruitment had been pending for a long time.
For the first time since Independence, the state will receive permanent Food Safety Officers, which will strengthen food safety enforcement and help curb food adulteration. The selected candidates were chosen through the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) and will now be available to the Food Safety Department.
According to sources, the selected candidates will receive a monthly salary of ₹26,500 during probation. After the Food Safety Act came into force on 5 August 2011, recruitments were announced in 2019 and 2022, but the process remained stuck due to court cases.
Recruitment Timeline (Stalled Process)
- The government announced recruitment for 200 posts in 2020.
- The RPSC conducted the recruitment exam on 27 June 2023, and the results were declared on 10 June 2024, nearly a year later.
- The Commission recommended appointments on 20 June, but the process was halted on 3 July due to a stay order by the court.
- After the stay was lifted, the recruitment process resumed, and now the appointment orders have finally been issued.
- A similar situation had also occurred with the 2019 recruitment, which was delayed due to legal issues.
