Domestic and International Tourists to Be Introduced to Rajasthan’s Culture and Heritage
Showcasing centuries-old heritage, the Sambhar Festival will be organized in a grand and well-planned manner. With this objective, from December 27 to 31, domestic and international tourists visiting Rajasthan will be introduced to the state’s art, culture, and natural heritage.
The Rajasthan Tourism Department is organizing the festival. Along with the five-day festival, attractive tourism activities reflecting Rajasthan’s cultural and traditional colors will be held. Through art and craft stalls, local handicrafts, and photography exhibitions, Rajasthan’s unique identity will be presented.
Colorful fancy kite flying will be a special attraction of the festival. Activities such as band performances, dastaangoi (storytelling), yoga, and ATV bike rides will attract youth. For nature lovers, bird-watching tours, salt lake tours, and salt production process tours will be organized.
For visitors with spiritual and cultural interests, heritage walks and special lighting festivals at religious sites will make the experience memorable. Folk artists’ performances, street plays, celebrity dining, heritage walks, cycling tours, tent accommodations, and kids’ activities will further enhance the festival’s appeal.
According to Upendra Singh Shekhawat, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, efforts are underway to include the Sambhar Festival among major international-level tourism events in the future. Sambhar Lake is no longer limited to just historical and religious tourism; rather, it is emerging as a new center for eco-tourism, astro-tourism, and agro-tourism.
During the festival, Deepak (lamp lighting), Sambhar Salt Campus, Devyani Tirth Sarovar, and the fairground will remain major centers of activities.
