Model Corridor on Tonk Road; 13 km Left Free Movement

Model Corridor on Tonk Road; 13 km Left Free Movement

Technical study will be conducted for U-turns, crossing points, and cuts

To reduce increasing traffic congestion in the city, a 13 km long model traffic corridor will be developed in the first phase from Yadgar to Sanganer Pulia on Tonk Road.

A technical assessment of 16 intersections, junctions, and cuts on this route will be carried out to ensure left free movement, safe U-turns, crossing points, and junction improvements.

This project will be executed jointly by the Municipal Corporation and JDA. Necessary improvements will also be made in road design along the corridor.

Unnecessary and unsafe cuts (median openings) will be closed. Continuous footpaths will be constructed for pedestrians. The placement of U-turns and crossing points will be based on technical surveys.

Traffic Load at Major Intersections (Vehicles per hour)

  • Rambagh Circle: 14–15 thousand
  • Ajmeri Gate: 7–8 thousand
  • Gandhinagar Mod: 5–6 thousand
  • Laxmimandir Mod: 6–7 thousand

Signal Timing Will Be Dynamic

Traffic signal timings will be made dynamic based on real-time traffic conditions.

Along with this:

  • Junction improvements and redesign of cuts will be done
  • Roads will be made encroachment-free
  • Lane marking, zebra crossings, and stop lines will be properly defined
  • Illegal parking will be removed
  • Additional lanes will be developed where required
