PDKF Ladies Polo Cup

Doctors, MBA professionals, hoteliers, and businesswomen showcased their polo skills — The Green team won
(None of them had a family background in polo.)

A unique scene was witnessed at the Rajasthan Polo Club ground, where the Ladies Polo Cup was organized by the Yuvrani Princess Diya Kumari Foundation. In the exhibition match, the Green and Pink teams competed against each other, with three women players on each side.

The Green team was led by Lance Watson, while the Pink team was led by Padmanabh Singh. The Green team defeated the Pink team 5–3.

Although this exhibition match didn’t have the thrill of a high-scoring tournament (like 14 goals), the enthusiasm, passion, and excitement of the women players were remarkable. A special point is that none of these players comes from families with a polo background. Among them are doctors, MBA students, hoteliers, and businesswomen.

Some players came from Gujarat to participate. Diya Kumari works at an advertising firm and played in such a major exhibition match for the first time. Shivangi Jaisingh is a doctor. Vijayashree Shaktawat (also known as Diamond Baisa) is a hotelier. Lavanya Shaktawat is pursuing an MBA. Sanjula and Vijayashree regularly participate in ladies polo tournaments.

Padmanabh’s shot hit Vijayashree Shaktawat’s waist; match paused briefly

In the third chukker (period), a lofted shot by Padmanabh Singh struck Green team player Vijayashree Shaktawat on the waist. Umpire Jason Dixon dismounted to check on her. The game was paused for 2–3 minutes. As the injury was not serious, Vijayashree continued playing.

It is noteworthy that she had suffered an injury last season and had to be hospitalized, even undergoing surgery.

Goal scorers
