Umbrellas painted in the very Gujarati colour and radiating painterly hues and drama, Dandiya in the hands giving out a beautiful music to the ears, vivid and rich attires of the Gujarati style, all this was adorned and enjoyed by the residents and dandiya enthusiasts of the Pink City, Jaipur. All this was a sight to see and get pleasure from at an event coordinated by ETV on Sunday, September 25, 2016.  The event named ‘Rangeelo Dandiya’ was assembled in the East lawns of Entertainment Paradise, Jaipur.

Pink City residents dancing to the musical beats of Falguni Pathak:

Jaipurites danced to the live music and singing of the Dandiya fame singer and dancer Falguni Pathak. The singer gave liver performances on Kesariyo Rang Tane Lagyo and Prem Deewani. It is much a charm and craze among people to adorn themselves in Dandiya Nights and embellish themselves with scintillating and unique jewellery and garba dresses.

People decked up in striking jewellery and dresses:         

Amongst the gorgeous and decked out dresses that Dandiya enthusiasts wore to the ‘Rangeelo Dandiya’ event, what stood out as matchless outfits were the ones that were garnished with heavy work inspired from the Jodha Akbar era, movie and style. The Rajwada work on these outfits taking a muse straight from the Jodha Akbar movie was a new sight to see.

Women and men showcased the traditional Chaniya Choli and Kedia Dhoti and Kurta:

Women and girls adorned themselves in Chaniya Choli and Lehenga and also in Choli and Odhni. Men on the other side weren’t far behind in the garba dressing style and were decked up in Kedia Dhoti, a sparkling and embellished topi on their head and flowy short kurtas. Exhibiting all these well-formed dresses, both men and women enjoyed thoroughly and to their core in this Dandiya Night organised by ETV.

Inter college dance competition for Dandiya also organised:

An inter-college competition was also coordinated alongside with the Dandiya Night event ‘Rangeelo Dandiya’. Students from 26 colleges from the Jaipur city came ahead with passion and zeal and participated in the event. Students from the Maharani College of Jaipur stood out as winners for this competition.

Falguni Pathak and a brief of her career path:

Young age and singing line:

Falguni Pathak here who came down for the ‘Rangeelo Dandiya’ event shared that she began to work onto the path of singing when she was aged merely 9. People began to praise her work, her voice and singing. All this praise made her feel motivated and encouraged.

Orchestra events paid a very basic amount back then:

Falguni shared that when she began to sing for orchestra events, she was made a payment of 20 – 25 INR per show.

A giant team of singers and music people:

Falguni Pathak went ahead and shared that now at present when she’s aged at 52 years, she has a team of 40 people along with her who receive a payment worth 1 crore INR for a show that extends for 10 days or more. 1987 was the year when Falguni Pathak began to lend her musical voice to Dandiya events, as shared by her.

The singer made a place in the hearts of many by giving out blockbuster songs and songs that are hummed by people even today and played in traditional events. Hit musical songs like Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi, Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye and Maine Payal Hai Chankaye are solely her work and the hit and fame of these songs are credited to her.
