Jaipur Airport Gets Status of Water Positive Airport

Saved 1.37 lakh KL of water through water harvesting and recycling

Jaipur International Airport has been awarded the status of a Water Positive Airport. Located in a water-scarce region, the airport has set an example by saving more water than it consumes.

Global consulting firm Bureau Veritas has issued the Water Positive accreditation certification for this achievement. Jaipur Airport has also become the first in the state and among a select few airports in the country to receive this recognition.

Between April 2025 and March 2026, the airport used 1.03 lakh kilolitres of water, while conserving 1.37 lakh kilolitres.

Out of this, 95,139 kilolitres of water was conserved through rainwater harvesting recharge pits, and 41,946 kilolitres was recycled.

A total of 18 recharge pits have been constructed at the airport, which help recharge rainwater into the groundwater. The recycled water is treated 100% and used for gardening.

Additionally, the use of sensor-based taps and digital meters has significantly reduced water wastage.

This initiative is considered an important step in effective water management.
