UN World Environment Day is observed worldwide every year on the 5th of June to raise awareness about protecting nature and the planet Earth. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1972 and was first observed on June 5, 1974. This day is also known as Eco Day, Environment Day and WED.

World Environment Day 2016 Theme

World Environment Day is celebrated on a different theme every year. Last year’s theme for WED celebration was – ‘Seven Billion Dreams; One Planet; Consume with Care’. For 2016, the theme is – ‘Go Wild For Life; Zero Tolerance for the Illegal Wildlife Trade’.

Jaipur Runs on World Environment Day

The Jaipur city runs on the occasion of World Environment Day. A marathon race is organized on this occasion on 5th June, where Jaipurites run for the environment together during the early morning hours. It’s a fun activity, which lets you connect with other Jaipurites and is also good for your health.
