55 More Private Buses to Run for 8 Cities including City of Jaipur

Government to Improve the Condition of Public Transport Services

Jaipur city was facing the issue of illegal and overcrowded buses. To stop this, the Transportation Department’s Public Transport Services has decided to run some 3000 private buses in the state. This step by the Transportation Department is expected to benefit around 6 lakh people every day. After the settlement of court case, the department released permit for 55 more private buses on Friday. Before this, they had released 77 permits. These 55 buses will run across 8 cities and will benefit some 30000 people. These permits have been released by the State Transport Authority and Upper Transport Commissioner, Mukulraj. The buses will be managed across regions like Jaipur, Kota, Sikar, Udaipur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Banswada and more nearby districts.

Two months before, bus operators had filed case in different courts, because of which this permit work had got stuck. But officers kept a strong side against the bus operators’ case. All court cases got settled 4 days back.

Now buses will be given permit only where there is scope of more buses. They will run in places where the state buses don’t reach. Bus operators are now hopeful of getting more business since the permit has now opened. They have invested up to 1 cores in buses. Another rule says that no buses older than 2 years will be allowed to run for public transport services. All buses that get the permit will have a permit valid for 5 years. After the period ends, their permit would end automatically.

These buses will improve the condition of public transport in the state. They are liable to charge fare equivalent to that of the Roadways Buses. Also, these private buses will have to follow the time schedule strictly. This is a promising step in improving the public transport services in the state and deserves appreciation.
