We are ambassadors of Rajasthan’s Culture, Tourism, and Heritage.
Bhutodia was invited by the Government of Rajasthan as the 'State Guest' to address the session 'From Roots to Roots: Transforming the NRR into Tourism Ambassadors'.
Sandeep Bhutodia, a renowned cultural scholar, author, and social activist from Kolkata, recently visited Jaipur to attend the Pravasi Rajasthani Divas. He urged the Rajasthan government to introduce a special social investment policy that recognizes the emotional and cultural ties of Non-Resident Rajasthanis (NRRs). This policy would go beyond industrial investment and encourage contributions to the preservation of ancestral mansions, schools, hospitals, heritage properties, and community projects.
Bhutodia was invited by the Rajasthan government as a 'State Guest' to speak at the session 'From Roots to Routes: Transforming the NRR into Tourism Ambassadors'. In the session, he said
“The NRR has a deep emotional connection to their homeland, which draws them back again and again. We are not a vote bank for the state government. No matter where we live in the world, we are true ambassadors of Rajasthan's culture, tourism, and heritage.”
He also stressed that traditions such as attire and the wearing of turbans are still alive across the world.
He suggested establishing a public-private partnership model with companies, organisations and individuals to effectively operate tourism desks and information centres, many of which are currently running without staff.
Speaking about Rajasthan's growing popularity as a film destination, Bhutodia said that the state is one of the best shooting locations in the world, but lacks a dedicated film studio. Films are shot here, but teams have to travel to cities like Mumbai for post-production. He expressed hope that the new tourism policy will address this long-standing need and a film studio will be established in Rajasthan.
It is noteworthy that Bhutodia has been the Secretary of the Kolkata Chapter of the Rajasthan Foundation for over 10 years. He is a prominent promoter of cultural activities not only across the country but also in Rajasthan and Jaipur. As Managing Trustee of the Prabha Khaitan Foundation, he has made significant contributions to spreading Indian art, literature, and culture to Europe, America, and West Asia. He is also deeply dedicated to the preservation of Indian folk art and cultural heritage.
