Metro Line-2 Corridor of 42.80 km to be Built in Four Phases
First phase: A 12 km line from Prahladpura to Pinjrapole Gaushala will be constructed first.
The Central Government has approved the construction of the 42.80 km long Metro Phase-2 from Prahladpura to Todi Mod.
The project will be completed in 4 phases.
- Work on the first phase (Prahladpura to Pinjrapole Gaushala, 12 km) will begin first.
- The tender process is currently underway.
- A total of 36 stations will be built, including key locations such as Mansarovar, Gopalpura, Sitapura, Jagatpura, etc.
- The entire project is expected to be completed in 5 years.
Driverless Metro
The metro will be driverless, operated through a CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) system.

Longest Elevated Metro Network
- Total length: 42.80 km
- Stations: 36 (34 elevated + 2 underground)
- Estimated cost: ₹13,037.66 crore
- Expected completion: 2031
Route Highlights
- Connects major high-traffic roads like Tonk Road and Sikar Road
- Covers key areas: Sitapura Industrial Area, Airport, AIIMS Hospital, Jagatpura, Vidhyadhar Nagar
- Will significantly reduce traffic congestion.
Metro will be underground between Sanganer and Jaipur Airport; the rest will be elevated
- According to DPR (Detailed Project Report), about 75% of the city’s population travels daily towards Sikar, Ajmer, and Delhi Road.
There is a daily movement of about 3 million people from north to south and 2.082 million from east to west.
- The city faces serious traffic congestion. Due to the lack of adequate public transport, major roads remain crowded even beyond peak hours.
After this project, areas like Tonk Road, Sitapura, Jagatpura, and Vidhyadhar Nagar will experience relief from traffic jams.
- The metro will connect key locations such as Sitapura Industrial Area, Airport, AIIMS Hospital, Ambabari, and Vaishali Nagar, making travel easier and faster.
- Connectivity to hospitals, railway stations, and the airport will improve, benefiting passengers.
- Reduced use of cars and bikes will lower fuel consumption and air pollution.
- The corridor will boost real estate growth, leading to the development of new colonies and multi-storey residential projects.
Additional Development
- After Phase-2, the total metro network will expand to 57 km.
- To improve connectivity in Phase-2, a 1-foot overbridge and a spur line will be built between the Railway Station–Sindhi Camp corridor and Chandpole Metro Station.
