Former England Polo Captain Charlesn to Play in Jaipur for the First Time; Preparations Begin for the 14-Goal Raffles Sirmeur Cup

England’s veteran polo player and former captain Charlesn will be playing in Jaipur for the first time. He arrived in Jaipur on Thursday. On Friday, he began practice sessions with his team at the Padam Polo Club (PPC) ground.

He has been invited by the Jindal/Bedla polo team to participate in two major high-goal tournaments. After nearly a decade, Charlesn has returned to India. Earlier, he has played in the Delhi polo season for teams like Sahara and Jindal. However, this will be his first competitive appearance in Jaipur.

His presence will not only strengthen the Jindal/Bedla team but also increase the attraction of the Jaipur polo season. The Jindal team has included Charlesn for two prestigious high-goal tournaments of the Jaipur season — the 14-Goal Raffles Sirmeur Cup and the Jaipur Open Maharaja Bhawani Singh Cup.

The Raffles Sirmeur Cup will be organized from 9 to 15 February, while the Maharaja Bhawani Singh Cup will be played from 23 February to 1 March.

Charlesn will replace Himmat Singh Bedla in the Jindal/Bedla team, who was recently injured during the Maharaja Man Singh Polo Cup at the PPC ground.

Charlesn has previously captained the England polo team and has played at an 8-goal handicap level in his career. Currently, he is competing at a 6-goal handicap, while in Argentina his handicap had once reached 10 goals. Recently, he showed excellent form by winning a prestigious snow polo tournament held in Switzerland.
