“Kalbelia dance on a 30-seater boat, bicycle boats on water”
Water Tourism:
Pedal boating resumes at Mavtha after 20 years; luxury and shikara boats to start before Holi.
Before Holi, a new attraction is being added to Jaipur’s tourism area. Boating has restarted at Mavtha Lake (near Amer) after about 20 years. Due to good water levels after the monsoon, preparations are underway to start five types of boating.
Pedal boats have begun on a trial basis, and other boats will arrive in the coming days. The biggest attraction will be a 30-seater luxury boat (being prepared in Ahmedabad) featuring a dance floor. There will be live performances of Kalbelia dance and Rajasthani folk music, allowing tourists to enjoy entertainment while boating.
Additionally:
Shikara boats will give a Kashmir-like experience, while bicycle boats will offer a new way to move across the water.
Safety Arrangements
Two rescue boats are being brought via cable. Each will have trained divers on duty at all times. Boating operations have been contracted to a company for five years.
Currently, water depth at Mavtha is about 20–22 feet, and the lake area is large, attracting thousands of tourists daily — hence multiple boating options are being introduced.
Operating Hours & Fare
Boating will run from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Fares are not finalized yet, but are estimated at ₹150–₹1500 per ride. Trial runs assess water levels, facilities, and potential issues.
