Bagrana–Todi Depot to Operate 75-75 Buses

6-Year Wait Ends: 3 E-Buses Reach Jaipur, 75 More to Arrive in 12 Days

The dream of Jaipur residents to see electric buses running in the city, which had been pending for the last 6 years, is now becoming reality. After a long wait, three electric buses have arrived at the JCTSL’s Bagrana depot in Jaipur. Another 72 buses are expected this month, bringing the total to 75 buses in operation.

In the first phase, a total of 150 e-buses will arrive. Work on charging stations at the depot is also nearly complete. Registration work is ongoing. It is expected that within the next 30 days, people in Jaipur will be able to travel by e-buses. Drivers will be given training for one week.

Drivers Will Belong to the Company, Conductors to JCTSL

  • Operations will be based on the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model.
  • Drivers will be provided by Chartered Mobility Company, while conductors will belong to JCTSL.
  • Revenue will remain with JCTSL.
  • JCTSL will pay the company:
    • ₹61 per km for 9-meter buses
    • ₹72 per km for 12-meter buses
  • The Central Government will provide subsidies of ₹22 and ₹24 per km respectively.
  • Remaining expenses will be shared by JCTSL and the state government.

Daily Running Target

  • Each bus must run around 200 km daily.
  • 9-meter buses: minimum 180 km/day
  • 12-meter buses: minimum 200 km/day
  • Monitoring will be done through GPS.

“Bhaskar Raised Questions, Then 9-Meter E-Buses Arrived; 5 More Coming Today”

Bhaskar had continuously published reports questioning why electric buses were not operating in Jaipur. Earlier reports highlighted issues such as:

  • Trial period of 3 months ending without buses running
  • 150 buses remaining idle due to incomplete charging stations
  • Transport expansion reduced to only 90 buses instead of 190
  • Need for 2500 buses in the city

After these reports, officials became active and accelerated preparations.
