Birla Mandir: Beautiful Marble Piece Of Art


The Birla Temple is centrally located and easily accessible from all parts of the Pink City. This is also known as Lakshami Narayan Temple. It is one of the traditional ancient oldest Hindu temples of the city. It is devoted to the Lord Vishnu. This spiritual site is an architectural landmark of the city.

History of Birla Temple

It was built in 1988 by B.M. Birla Foundation. It was built by the well-known and wealthy business Birla family. Birlas has built many shrines and holy places across the country. The land on which the temple stands was given to the Birla family by a Maharaja on a token sum of just one rupee.

Architectural Layout of Birla Temple

This spiritual site is considered as architectural wonder of Pink City as rich carvings on pure white marble makes it heart taking site. The temple's beautiful architectural layout and graceful carvings depicts the classy architectural configuration of a modern Pink City. The temple has amazingly engraved idols of Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. The delicate carvings of ancient Geeta quotes, Hindu symbols, religious figures, and idols, figures of historical achievers and philosophers, and mythological images can be seen. Art lovers can enjoy the marvelous art work and architectural beauty of this shrine. Its delicate art work and fine carvings are wonderful. As it is made up of premium quality of pure white marble, it appears astounding, when it gets lighten up in the night.

Things to Enjoy at Birla Temple

There are three colossal domes in the Birla Temple as these domes depict the different religion approaches. Hindu mythology scenes can be observed by the stained glass window outside the temple, the majestic appeal of remarkable idols inside the temple depicts mythology. The temple complex consists of a museum, lush green gardens to compliments this spiritual site. Birla Temple is a modern approach of construction and work of genius people. The architecture of the place enhances the appeal & magnificence of this shrine. It is bounded by the lush green garden and serene aura make it major tourist spot.

Best Time to Visit Birla Temple

The months of October to March is considered as the best time to visit Birla Temple. One can also enjoy the festivals celebrated here by the devotees like Krishna Janmasthami.  This festival is celebrated with great excitement and fullest scale. The suitable timings to visit the shrine are 8.00 AM to 12:00 Noon and 4.00 PM to 8.00 PM every day. It remains closed for four hours every day for four hours from 12:00 noon to 4.00 PM. Tourists can also shop traditional and handmade items available at the shopping complex of Birla Temple.

This spiritual site is always throng by devotees and very difficult to find it totally vacant during the day time.  The number of visitors multiplies to a greater number during Krishna Janmasthami and festival celebration.

From Airport

Via Cab or Auto

  • Distance from airport is 9.6 km via Jawahar Lal Naharu Marg (via JLN Marg).
  • Cab or auto will take 25 - 30 min for reach Birla Mandir.
  • Charges for one side is approx. for auto Rs. 100 - 130 Indian rupee.

Via Public Transportation

  • Bus service is available for Birla Mindir.
  • You will take auto and reach Jawahar Circle , than after that from Jawahar circle you will take bus 3Atowards Choti Chopad, it will drop you at SMS Hospital , from there 1.4 km,  you will take auto (10 minutes’ drive distance of Birla Minder, 
  • It will take more than 60-70 minutes ,

From Railway Station

Via Cab or Auto

  • Distance from railway station is 5.6 km (via Bhawani Singh Rd).
  • Cab or auto will take 25 - 30 min for reach Birla Mandir.
  • Charges for one side is approx. for auto Rs. 90 - 120 India rupee.
  • Charges for one side is approx. for cab Rs. 120 - 140 India rupee.

Via Public Transportation

  • Bus service available for Birla Mindir.
  • You will take auto and reach Central Railway Hospital, than after that from Central Railway Hospital you will take bus 10towards Galta Gate, it will drop you at JDA Circle , from there 500 m,  (10 minutes Walking distance of Birla Minder, 
  • It will take more than 25-30 minutes.
