Spanish Firm ‘Epista’ to Execute Jaipur’s Smart City Project

A Spanish firm named ‘Epista’ will be executing Jaipur’s smart city project with JSML. Jaipur Smart Mission Limited JSML has appointed this international firm as a project management consultant PMC for the execution of smart city project in Jaipur. Thus, Epista will be executing and implementing the project in the pink city.

JSML finalized the name of Epista out of 5 companies which had participated in the tender process for Jaipur smart city project. The other companies which participated include Lee (South Asia), Tata Consultants, Webcos and Sai Consultants.

A JSML official told that 3 companies were able to qualify the technical bid for the execution of smart city project of Jaipur. But then, the Spanish firm was selected as it had quoted the lowest bid out of all 5 companies.

How will the Spanish firm assist JSML in smart city project of Jaipur

Now this Spanish firm will help JSML for the next 2 years–

• in planning, designing, development and monitoring of the smart city project in Jaipur
• in making DPRs
• in monitoring the pace of the smart city project of Jaipur
• in offering suitable solutions when required
• in finding a suitable company once the financial bids are invited
• The firm will have experts from various sectors such as physical planning and urban design, municipal finance, water supply, sewerage, renewable energy, legal and health.

Monetary funding by the state government

The Rajasthan state government has proposed to spend Rs.2,403 crore for Jaipur.

Rs.186 crore has already been released by the Centre as the first installment of the proposed plan.

Proposals to incorporate 3 more projects under smart city Jaipur

In a meeting held on Friday, discussions took place on incorporate 3 more projects under the smart city mission of Jaipur. The proposals include:

• Taking inspiration from the Jaipur metro station, it has been proposed to develop Gandhi Nagar railway station as a model station. It will be equipped with all modern facilities such as smart parking, automatic entry and exit gates and WiFi zone.
• JSML has proposed to construct an underground parking at Ramganj Bazaar.
• JSML is also planning to install a solar system at the roof of Rajasthan University.
